About Wen

A practitioner who reads your whole chart first

Wen Li Chiang is a licensed acupuncturist in Wisconsin and a diplomate in Oriental medicine, practicing on Sherman Avenue since 2013. She spends the first visit on history, because the shoulder that hurts is often not where the story starts. She works alongside primary care doctors and fertility clinics and will send treatment notes to them at your request.

•Licensed acupuncturist, State of Wisconsin
•Single use sterile needles, opened in front of you
•Written treatment plan with an expected number of visits

Reviews

From patients

“Eleven years of migraines down to about one a month after two months of treatment. I did not expect much and I was wrong.”

Jill S., Migraine treatment

“She coordinated with our fertility clinic on timing without me having to relay anything. That alone lowered the stress of the whole process.”

Andrea W., Fertility support

“My lower back had me sleeping in a chair. Six sessions and I am back in bed and back on my bike.”

Rob T., Chronic low back pain
FAQ

First visit questions

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture needles are about the width of a human hair and most insertions are not felt at all. Some points produce a brief dull heaviness that fades in seconds. If anything is sharp, say so and the needle comes out immediately.

How many sessions will I need?

For acute issues, often four to six. For something chronic that has been present for years, a course of eight to twelve visits is more realistic. You will get a written plan after the first visit with an expected number, and it is revisited every few weeks.

Is acupuncture covered by insurance?

Some Wisconsin plans cover it, often for pain conditions and usually with a visit limit. Riverbend is out of network and provides a superbill you submit yourself. HSA and FSA cards are accepted directly at the desk.

What should I do before and after a treatment?

Eat something within a couple of hours beforehand and wear loose clothing that can move above the knee and elbow. Afterward, take it easy, drink water and skip hard exercise or alcohol that evening. Feeling deeply relaxed or tired is common and passes by morning.
