How we work
Individual, group, family, and telehealth
Most clients combine a weekly individual session with one group.
Individual counseling session
Weekly one to one work using motivational interviewing and CBT approaches.
Evening process group
Small closed groups of eight to ten meeting Tuesday or Thursday at 6pm.
Family and partner sessions
Structured sessions for spouses, parents, and adult children affected by a loved one's use.
Intensive outpatient program
Nine hours weekly across three evenings, for people who need more than one session a week.
Telehealth session
Same counselor, secure video, available to clients anywhere in Idaho.
About the practice
Six counselors who take a small caseload on purpose
Clearwater has operated in downtown Boise since 2013. Our counselors are licensed in Idaho and several hold the state addiction counseling credential. We deliberately cap caseloads so people are not handed off between clinicians, and we coordinate with prescribers, probation officers, and employers when a client asks us to.

Getting started
How quickly can I be seen?
Most intakes are scheduled within three to five business days, and we hold a few slots each week for people in crisis. If we cannot see you fast enough, we will name other Treasure Valley providers rather than leave you waiting on a list.
Will my employer or family find out?
Not from us. Addiction treatment records are protected under federal rule 42 CFR Part 2 in addition to HIPAA, which is stricter than general medical privacy. We release nothing without your written, specific consent, and you can revoke that consent at any time.
What does it cost if I do not have insurance?
Individual sessions are $140 and groups are $55, with a sliding scale down to $60 and $25 based on household income. We ask for a pay stub or tax return, apply the rate in one conversation, and review it every six months.
Do I have to stop drinking before I come in?
No. Many people arrive still using, and that is a normal place to start. If your use includes alcohol or benzodiazepines at a level where stopping suddenly could be medically dangerous, we will help you arrange a medical detox first, because that step needs a physician, not a counselor.
