About hearing loss
How do I know if I need hearing aids?
Common signs are asking people to repeat themselves, struggling in restaurants while doing fine one on one, and the television being louder than others prefer. A hearing evaluation gives you an actual measurement instead of a guess. Many people test in the mild range and choose to wait, which is a legitimate option.
Are over the counter hearing aids any good?
For adults with mild to moderate age related loss who are comfortable with self fitting, OTC devices can genuinely help and cost far less. They are not appropriate for severe loss, sudden loss, one sided loss, or anything with drainage or pain. We are glad to test your hearing and tell you honestly if an OTC route makes sense.
Why do prices vary so much?
The difference is mostly in how the device handles noise, multiple speakers and directionality. A quiet lifestyle at home may be well served by an entry level pair. Someone in meetings and restaurants several times a week usually notices the premium processing. We demonstrate both before you decide.
Does Medicare cover hearing aids?
Original Medicare does not cover hearing aids, though it does cover diagnostic hearing tests ordered by a physician. Many Medicare Advantage plans include a hearing aid allowance, and we bill those directly. We check your specific plan and tell you the allowance before you choose a device.
