About the practice
An independent practice that answers its own phone
Lakeshore Cardiology has been independent since 2003 and our physicians admit to and follow patients at two Milwaukee hospitals. Visits are scheduled at thirty minutes for new patients because a rushed cardiology visit misses things. Every test result gets a phone call or portal message with an explanation, not just a number.

Questions from new patients
Do I need a referral to be seen?
It depends on your plan. HMO plans usually require a referral from your primary care physician, while most PPO plans do not. Our front desk will check your specific coverage before the visit so there is no surprise at check in.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, a complete list of medications including doses, and any prior heart testing such as echo reports or stress tests. If you have had a recent hospital stay, the discharge summary is very useful. Wear a two piece outfit since an ECG is likely.
Chest pain right now, should I call the office?
No. New or severe chest pain, especially with shortness of breath, sweating, or pain into the arm or jaw, is a 911 call, not an office call. Our office is not equipped for emergencies. Call us afterward and we will arrange follow up once you are stable.
How soon will I get my test results?
Echocardiograms are usually read the same day and stress tests within one business day. Monitor studies take longer, generally five to ten days, because the recording has to be processed and reviewed beat by beat. You receive a call or a portal message with the interpretation either way.
