Independent, residential, and deliberately small
Braidwood was founded in 1889 and has stayed a residential liberal arts college of about 1,400 students by choice. Faculty teach every course, including introductory ones, and there are no graduate teaching assistants. The college is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.

Applicant questions
What does it actually cost after aid?
Published tuition, fees, room and board total about 69,000 dollars a year. Ninety four percent of students receive aid, and the average net price families pay is closer to 30,000 dollars. Our net price calculator gives you a personal estimate in about ten minutes.
Are test scores required?
No. Braidwood is test optional and applications without scores are read the same way, with more weight on transcript rigor, writing and recommendations. If you submit scores we will consider them, and if you do not, nothing is held against you.
What are the application deadlines?
Early decision is November 15 with a decision by December 20. Regular decision closes January 15 with decisions released by April 1. Transfer applications are read on a rolling basis through June 1 for fall entry.
Can I visit and stay overnight?
Yes. Tours run daily during the academic year, and admitted students can arrange an overnight with a current student host. We also offer class visits, so you can sit in on something in your intended major rather than only walking past buildings.
