The kitchen

Restaurant cooks teaching home cooks

Copper Pan was opened in 2015 by two Charleston line cooks who wanted to teach technique rather than run through recipes. Every class is hands on with sixteen individual stations, and we buy from the same Lowcountry purveyors the restaurants on King Street use.

•Every seat is a working station, no demonstration only classes
•Ingredients, apron, printed recipes and a drink included
•Dietary restrictions accommodated with 48 hours notice

Reviews

Recent classes

“I have cooked for twenty years and the knife class still changed how I hold a chef's knife. Faster and my hands stopped aching.”

Beatriz O., Knife skills

“Booked the kitchen for our sales team offsite. Sixteen people who barely talk in meetings would not shut up over the pasta.”

Grant W., Private event, Mount Pleasant

“The sourdough starter they sent me home with is still going a year later.”

FAQ

Class questions

Do I need any cooking experience?

None for most classes. Knife skills and the cuisine nights assume you are a beginner and instructors work station to station. The only class where prior comfort helps is the advanced butchery session.

Can you handle allergies or vegetarian diets?

Yes with 48 hours notice, and we will tell you honestly if a particular class cannot be adapted well. Shellfish is central to some Lowcountry classes, so we may point you to a different date instead.

What is your cancellation policy?

Full refund up to 72 hours before the class. Inside 72 hours we can move you to another date if we can fill your seat, because the ingredients have already been ordered.

Is this dinner or a class?

Both, honestly. You cook for roughly two hours, then sit down and eat what the room made. Most people leave full, so do not book a restaurant afterwards.
