About the shop
Everything leaves through the same hands
Hollow Pine is one person in a rented bay by the river. I mill, cut, join and finish everything myself, which is why the wait is eight weeks and why I will not build anything I would not want in my own kitchen. Most of the wood comes from within a hundred miles, some of it from trees that came down in storms and would otherwise have been chipped.

FAQ
Ordering and care
How long is the wait for a commission?
Small pieces ship from stock right away. Made to order furniture is currently about eight weeks from deposit, and larger built in projects run twelve to sixteen weeks. I only take on what I can build myself, so the queue is real.
How do I take care of the finish?
Wash cutting boards by hand with soap and water, never the dishwasher, and dry them standing up. Re oil with any food safe hardwax oil when the wood starts looking thirsty, roughly every couple of months for a board in daily use.
Can you match a stain or existing furniture?
I can get close by choosing the species and the finish carefully, but I do not do heavy pigmented stains because they hide the wood you are paying for. Send photos and I will tell you honestly whether it is going to match.
Do you ship furniture?
Boards and small goods ship anywhere. Tables and casework go by freight with a quote based on your address, or I deliver personally within about three hours of Asheville, which is usually cheaper and always less nerve wracking.
