Complete denture, standard

About the clinic
A denturist and a lab tech under one roof
Lakeside opened in 1998 and has been in the Peach Street building since 2005. Gregory Nowak is a licensed denturist and his colleague Ivan Petrov runs the on site lab, which is why turnaround here is measured in days rather than weeks. We work with two local oral surgeons for extractions and implant placement and coordinate that scheduling for you.

Questions about dentures
How long does a new denture take?
A standard complete denture takes four to six weeks across about five appointments: impressions, bite registration, wax try in, delivery and an adjustment. If teeth need extracting first, we usually fit an immediate denture the same day and then reline it once the ridge heals, around four months later.
Will my denture feel loose over time?
Yes, and that is normal rather than a defect. The jaw ridge resorbs after teeth are gone, fastest in the first year. A reline every two to three years restores the fit, and most complete dentures need replacing around the seven to ten year mark.
Does insurance cover dentures?
Most dental plans cover 40 to 50 percent of a complete denture once every five to seven years, and many have an annual maximum that a full set will exceed. We verify your benefits before you commit and give you the out of pocket number in writing.
Can I get implants instead?
Implant supported overdentures hold far better and slow ridge loss, but they need enough bone and a healing period of three to six months. We refer placement to a local oral surgeon and make the denture that snaps onto them. We will tell you honestly if your bone will not support it.
