Apex Lane was started by two club racers who were tired of experience days that gave people one slow lap behind a pace car. Every instructor here holds a competition licence and spends real weekends racing. The fleet is maintained in our own shop between events, brakes and tires logged by session.
“I expected to be babysat at 40 mph. By lap two my instructor had me braking properly into turn one and it was the most fun I have had in years.”
Devon K., Three lap taster
“Brought my own car for an open day. Tech inspection was thorough, the run groups were sensibly split, and nobody was driving over their head in novice.”
Sarah M., Open lapping, Austin
“Booked the half day school as a fortieth birthday gift for my husband. The skid pad session alone changed how he drives in the rain.”
Alicia D., Driving school gift
No track experience is required for any of our packages. You need a valid full driving licence, which we check at the gate, and you must be 18 or older to drive. Under 18 can ride as a passenger with a parent or guardian present.
Every drive package includes a damage waiver that caps your liability at 5,000 dollars, and that only applies if damage happens while you ignore an instructor instruction. In nine years we have collected on it twice. You sign the waiver at check in, before the briefing.
Closed toe flat soled shoes, long trousers and a shirt with sleeves. Skip bulky boots, they make heel and toe braking awkward. We supply the helmet and balaclava, and if you bring your own helmet it needs a current Snell SA rating.
We run in the rain, the course drains well and wet lapping is genuinely good practice. We only cancel for lightning within ten miles or standing water on the racing line. If we cancel, you get a full credit valid for 12 months or a refund, your choice.
Weekend slots fill three to four weeks out, midweek is usually open. Gift vouchers are open dated for 12 months and the recipient books their own date.
