Specialists who read your device data before you arrive
Northside was founded in 2011 by two endocrinologists who wanted longer appointments than a hospital system allowed. All three physicians are board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Before a diabetes visit, your continuous monitor or pump data is downloaded and reviewed, so the appointment starts with your actual numbers instead of a memory test.

Before your first visit
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your medication bottles, any lab work from the past year, and your glucose meter, pump or sensor account login if you use one. If you have had a thyroid ultrasound or DEXA scan elsewhere, ask that office to send the images, not just the report.
Do I need a referral?
Most PPO plans allow direct booking. HMO and many Medicare Advantage plans require a referral from your primary care provider, and our staff verifies this when you call so you are not turned away at check in.
How soon can I be seen?
Routine new patient visits are typically three to five weeks out. We hold same week slots for urgent problems such as severe hypoglycemia, new diabetes diagnoses and pregnancy related thyroid or glucose issues. Call and describe the situation rather than booking online for those.
Will you help with insurance approval for a pump or sensor?
Yes. Our staff handles prior authorizations and appeals for continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, and we track them until a decision comes back. Approvals usually take one to three weeks depending on the plan.
