Root canal, molar
Three or four canals located under the microscope, most finished in a single 90 minute visit.
Retreatment of a failed root canal
Old filling material removed, missed canals found and the tooth resealed.
Apicoectomy
Microsurgery at the root tip when a conventional retreatment will not resolve the infection.
Cracked tooth evaluation
Exam, 3D scan and a clear answer on whether the tooth can be saved.

Dr. Anita Vaughn and Dr. Peter Sandoval each completed two additional years of residency training in endodontics after dental school and are board certified by the American Board of Endodontics. We treat only root canal problems, roughly 2,200 teeth a year between us.

What patients ask us
Does a root canal hurt?
The procedure itself should not. The pain that brings people in comes from an inflamed or infected nerve, and treatment removes it. We take extra time on anesthesia, including techniques for hot teeth that are hard to numb, and we do not start until you confirm you feel nothing.
How long does treatment take and how many visits?
Most root canals finish in one visit, sixty minutes for a front tooth and about ninety for a molar. Cases with significant infection or a difficult anatomy occasionally need a second visit two weeks later, and we will tell you which situation you are in before we begin.
Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No, you may call us directly, and many patients do when they are in pain. If you have a general dentist we will send them our findings and images so your crown can be planned right away.
What do I do after treatment?
Expect mild soreness for two to four days, managed well by ibuprofen for most people. Chew on the other side and see your general dentist within a few weeks for the permanent crown, since an untreated back tooth can fracture without one.
