Fence project questions
Do I need a permit for a fence?
Most Treasure Valley cities require a permit for fences over six feet, and some require one for any fence in a front yard setback. Boise and Meridian have different rules. We check your jurisdiction and pull the permit as part of the job rather than leaving it to you.
Who is responsible for finding the property line?
Legally the homeowner is. We locate existing survey pins when we can find them and can set the fence a few inches inside your line as a safety margin. If pins are missing or a neighbor disputes the line, a licensed survey is the only real answer and we will tell you that before starting.
How long does an installation take?
A typical residential yard is two to three days. Posts are set on day one, then concrete cures overnight before rails and pickets go on. Larger properties, rocky ground and automated gates add time, and we give you a day count in the written quote.
Does a cedar fence need to be stained?
It does not have to be, and untreated cedar weathers to a silver gray that many owners like. If you want to keep the warm color, wait about six months for the wood to dry, then apply a penetrating oil stain and repeat every three to four years.
