Harlan Brothers has been on Wayne Avenue since 1958, and the third generation runs it now. We are not owned by a national group, which is why our prices sit below the county average and why the person who takes your call at midnight is the same person who greets you at the visitation.

Questions families ask
What do we do first when someone dies?
Call us at any hour. If the death was at home under hospice care, call hospice first and then us. If it happened unexpectedly, call 911 first. We handle the transfer once the authorities release your loved one, and we can be there within about an hour.
How much does a funeral cost here?
Direct cremation starts at $1,395 and a traditional burial service starts at $6,800 before cemetery and monument costs. We give you an itemized price list in writing before you choose anything, and you are never required to buy a package.
Can we hold a service if we choose cremation?
Yes, and many families do. You can hold a visitation before the cremation, or a memorial service afterward with the urn present. The service and the cremation are separate decisions.
Should we prearrange?
Prearranging spares your family from making decisions in the first hard days and lets you lock in today's costs through a regulated trust. There is no charge to sit down and plan, and nothing you record is binding until you choose to fund it.
