Willow Bend serves four counties in southwest Missouri and has done so since 2009. Our nurses live here, and the same small team follows your family through the whole time you are with us. We serve patients at home, in assisted living, in nursing facilities and in the hospital.
“We called at two in the morning terrified and a nurse was in our living room within forty minutes. She stayed until things were calm.”
Marie D., Daughter, Springfield
“Nobody told us hospice would bring the bed, the oxygen, everything, and that it would be covered. We waited months longer than we should have.”
Ron K., Husband, Nixa
Hospice is available when a physician certifies a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness follows its usual course. Most families tell us afterward that they waited too long. You can call us to ask questions long before you decide anything, and there is no cost or obligation for that conversation.
It means shifting the goal from curing the illness to comfort and quality of the time remaining. Patients still receive active medical care, just aimed at symptoms rather than the disease. Some patients improve on hospice and are discharged, and they can return later if things change.
For patients with Medicare, Medicaid or most private insurance, care related to the terminal illness is covered in full, including nursing, medications for that illness, equipment and supplies. Families are typically responsible for room and board if the patient lives in a facility.
Yes, and most do. We bring the bed, the oxygen, the medications and the visits to wherever the patient lives, whether that is a house, an assisted living apartment or a nursing facility. Family caregivers are supported by our aides and nurses, not replaced by them.
Call any hour and a nurse will answer your questions. There is no cost and no commitment to ask.
