Halvorsen has worked in upper Midwest plants since 1978 and is now run by the founder's grandchildren. We employ 85 field craftsmen out of Millwrights Local 1146 and Ironworkers Local 8, plus an in-house engineering group. Our experience modification rate is 0.71, which matters when your plant safety department reviews contractors.

What plants ask us
How fast can you respond to a breakdown?
We keep an on-call crew year round. In southeastern Wisconsin we are typically on site within four hours of the call, and within eight hours across the rest of our territory. Tell dispatch the equipment and failure mode and we will bring the right trade the first time.
Do you work during our scheduled shutdown?
Most of our work happens during shutdowns and holiday weeks. We plan those months ahead, walk the scope with your team, and staff around the clock so the line is running when the plant comes back. Shutdown calendars fill by spring, so bring us in early.
Are you set up in our contractor management system?
We are current in ISNetworld, Avetta and Veriforce. Send us your requirements and our safety director will handle the enrollment, site-specific orientations and any additional training your facility requires before the first day.
Do you handle the engineering, or do we need a separate firm?
We have licensed professional engineers on staff for conveyor systems, platforms and equipment supports, and we seal drawings in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan. For process design outside our scope we will tell you and work alongside your firm.
