Primary Years, grades 1 to 5

Built for families who may not stay in one country
Riverstone was founded in 1997 by families working in shipping and technology who needed schooling that would transfer. The IB continuum means a student moving to Singapore or Zurich lands in a recognisable programme. Roughly forty percent of our families are here on assignment, so mid year enrolment is normal for us rather than disruptive.

Admissions questions we hear most
Can my child enrol partway through the year?
Yes, and about a quarter of our students do. Each mid year arrival is paired with a student mentor and gets a scheduled check in with their advisor at two weeks and six weeks. The only grade where timing genuinely matters is grade 11, since the Diploma Programme is a two year sequence.
What if my child does not speak English yet?
English language support is included in tuition and delivered inside the classroom as well as in small pull out groups. Students in the early and primary years typically reach classroom fluency within a year to eighteen months. We do not require an English test for entry below grade 6.
How does the IB diploma compare for university admission?
It is recognised by universities in the US, UK, Canada, and across Europe and Asia, which is a large part of why mobile families choose it. Our counselling team starts in grade 10 and works with each family on the specific country systems they are targeting. Course selection matters more than the label, and we plan it early.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes, need based assistance is available and applications are reviewed separately from admission decisions. Awards typically cover a portion of tuition rather than the full amount. Applying for assistance does not affect whether your child is offered a place.
