Programs
What happens at the center
Programs are open to the whole community. Fees are waived for any family that asks.
Weekend Quran and Islamic school
Saturdays 10am to 1pm for ages 5 to 15, covering Quran recitation, Arabic and seerah.
Youth halaqa and activities
Friday evenings for middle and high school students, with monthly sports and service outings.
Nikah and marriage services
Imam-officiated nikah with the required documentation, plus premarital counseling on request.
Janazah and burial assistance
Ghusl facilities, janazah prayer, and coordination with the Muslim section at Fairview Cemetery.
New Muslim and convert support
One on one mentoring, basic fiqh classes and a shahada ceremony whenever you are ready.
About the center
Built by the families who pray here
Cedar Valley Islamic Center began in 1994 in a rented storefront and moved to the Kimball Avenue building in 2006 after eight years of community fundraising. Around 420 families attend regularly, with roots in more than twenty countries. We are a registered nonprofit governed by an elected board of nine members, and our finances are presented at an open annual meeting.

Common questions
What time is Jummah?
The khutbah begins at 1:15pm year round with prayer immediately after, and we hold a second jamaat at 2:15pm for those who cannot leave work earlier. Doors open at 12:30. The main hall fills by 1:00 in Ramadan, so come early.
Can non-Muslims visit the masjid?
Yes, visitors are welcome any time and we regularly host school groups and interfaith visits. We ask that you dress modestly and remove shoes in the prayer hall. Call the office ahead and someone will meet you and answer questions.
Is there a separate space for women?
Yes. Women pray in a dedicated section on the main floor with its own entrance, wudu area and a clear view of the imam. Childcare is available during Jummah and weekend school hours.
How do I arrange a janazah?
Call the office number any hour and it will reach the imam or a board member. We can perform ghusl at the center, hold the janazah prayer after any daily prayer, and coordinate with the Muslim section at Fairview Cemetery. Families pay cemetery and transport costs only.
