Three generations behind the same counter
Halverson opened on State Street in 1987 and is now run by the founder's daughter. Two goldsmiths work at the bench in back, which is why we can size a ring in three days and why we will look at a repair another shop declined. We show GIA grading reports for every diamond over half a carat and explain what actually drives the price.

Common questions
How long does a custom ring take?
Five to six weeks from your consultation to pickup. That covers CAD rendering and your approval, stone sourcing, casting, setting and finishing. Rush timelines are sometimes possible, so tell us your date at the consultation.
Can you use my grandmother's stone?
Usually yes. We examine it under the scope first for chips and abrasions, because older stones sometimes need recutting or cannot handle a tension setting. We will tell you what the stone can safely support before you fall in love with a design.
How much should an engagement ring cost?
There is no rule, and the old salary formulas came from advertising. Our custom rings start around $2,400 and most land between $3,500 and $8,000. We will show you where the money goes and where a small tradeoff makes almost no visible difference.
How often should jewelry be inspected?
Every six months for anything worn daily. Prongs wear down gradually and a lost stone is far more expensive than a retip. The inspection and cleaning are free whether or not you bought the piece here.
