About the studio
Two lasers, because one does not fit everyone
Northside opened in 2016 with a rule that we would not sell a package before a patch test. We run a diode laser for lighter and medium skin and an Nd:YAG for deeper skin tones, because using the wrong wavelength is how people end up with burns and disappointment. Treatments are performed by licensed laser technicians with a medical director overseeing protocols.

Laser questions
How many sessions will I need?
Most areas need six to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart, because the laser only affects hair currently in its growth phase. Coarse hair on the face and neck often needs occasional maintenance afterward, especially where hormones are involved.
Does it work on dark skin or light hair?
Deeper skin tones are treated safely with our Nd:YAG laser at appropriate settings. Very light blonde, red, gray and white hair lack the pigment the laser targets, so results are poor, and we will tell you that at the consultation rather than sell you a package.
How should I prepare?
Shave the area the day before, avoid waxing or plucking for four weeks since the root must be present, and stay out of the sun or self tanner for two weeks. Come with clean skin and no lotion or deodorant on the treatment area.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as a rubber band snap with a warm sting, worst on the bikini and upper lip. Our devices have contact cooling, sessions are short, and any redness usually settles within a few hours.
