Broadleaf was started in 2015 by Dale Osei, who spent eight years on a golf course grounds crew before going out on his own. Every property is on a fixed route day, so the same two person crew shows up the same day each week and knows your gate code and where the dog is. Treatment applications are done by a licensed NC pesticide applicator, not by a mowing crew.

Lawn questions we hear every spring
How often should I water my lawn?
About one inch per week including rainfall, delivered in two deep soakings rather than daily light watering. Deep and infrequent pushes roots down, which is what carries a Raleigh lawn through August. Water early in the morning, since evening watering leaves blades wet overnight and invites brown patch.
When should I aerate and overseed?
For fescue, September into mid October is the window, once nighttime temperatures drop but there is still enough warmth for germination. Spring aeration on fescue is largely wasted and can open the soil for summer weeds. Bermuda is the opposite and should be aerated in late spring when it is actively growing.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Mowing is billed monthly and you can cancel with two weeks notice at any time. The treatment program is billed per visit rather than prepaid for the year, so you are never carrying a balance for work that has not happened. We would rather earn the next visit than hold you to a signature.
What do you do when it rains on my day?
We push to the next available day on the route, usually within forty eight hours, and you get a text when we reroute. We do not mow saturated ground because the mower tears the turf and leaves ruts. If a week is completely lost to rain, that week is not billed.
