Common questions
Will you have to drill my lock?
Almost never. Standard pin tumbler locks get picked or bypassed and stay usable. Drilling only comes up on high security cylinders or a badly damaged lock, and we tell you before we do it.
What proof do I need for a lockout?
For a home we need a photo ID matching the address, or a lease, utility bill or mail. For a vehicle we need ID plus registration or insurance. This protects you as much as it protects us.
Can you make a key for a car with no key at all?
Yes, for most vehicles up to current model years. We decode the lock or pull the key code, cut a blank and program it to the immobilizer. Budget one to two hours for a total loss job.
Is rekeying as safe as buying new locks?
For most homes it is. Rekeying replaces the pins so old keys no longer turn, at a fraction of new hardware cost. Replace instead when the lock is worn, low grade, or you want a keyed alike system across doors.
