FAQ

New student questions

Do I need to be in shape before I start?

No. Fundamentals classes are built for people coming off the couch and coaches scale the conditioning. Getting in shape is what training does, not a prerequisite for showing up.

Will I get hurt?

Bruises and sore muscles are normal, real injuries are not. Beginners do not spar live for the first month, striking sparring starts light and only after three months, and tapping early is coached from day one.

What do I need to bring to the first class?

Shorts or athletic pants without zippers or pockets, a t shirt, a water bottle and short trimmed nails. Gis and gloves can be borrowed for the fundamentals block, and we sell them once you decide to stay.

Is there a contract?

The four week fundamentals block is paid up front. After that memberships are month to month, cancel with 30 days notice. We do not use annual auto renew agreements.
