Programs
Prayer, learning and neighborhood service
Everything here is funded by community donations. No program charges anyone who cannot pay.
Jumu'ah, 1:15pm and 2:30pm
Two services each Friday, with the khutbah delivered in English and a short Arabic portion.
Weekend Quran and Islamic studies
Saturdays for ages 5 to 15, with tuition waived for any family who asks.
New Muslim and seekers class
Wednesday evenings, open to anyone curious about Islam with no expectation attached.
Nikah and funeral services
Marriage officiation and full janazah support including ghusl, shrouding and burial coordination.
Community food pantry
Third Saturday of each month, open to every neighbor regardless of faith or address.
About the masjid
A congregation from more than thirty countries
Masjid Al-Amanah opened in 1996 in a converted storefront and moved to the Sullivant Avenue building in 2004. The congregation includes families from more than thirty countries along with a growing number of American born Muslims. The masjid is governed by an elected board of nine members and publishes an annual financial report to the community.

For visitors and new families
Can non Muslims visit the mosque?
Yes, and you are genuinely welcome. Come to the office during weekday hours or to one of our quarterly open houses and someone will show you the prayer hall and answer questions. If you want to observe a prayer, let us know and we will seat you where you can see comfortably.
What should I wear if I visit?
Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Women are asked to bring a headscarf for the prayer hall, and we keep spare scarves at the entrance if you do not have one. Shoes come off at the carpet line, where there are shelves for them.
How do I enroll my child in weekend school?
Registration opens in July for the school year starting in September. Tuition is 180 dollars per year per child, and it is waived for any family who asks, no explanation required. Classes run Saturdays from 10am to 1pm from September through May.
How do I request a janazah or nikah?
Call the office line at any hour for a funeral and someone will answer, since janazah cannot wait. Our team handles ghusl, shrouding, prayer and coordination with the cemetery. For a nikah, contact the office at least three weeks ahead so the imam can meet with the couple first.
