Newborn posing looks effortless in photos and is not. I am trained in newborn safety and every composite pose is done with a spotter's hands in the frame and edited out. The studio sits at 80 degrees, there is a sofa for you to nap on, and the session takes as long as the baby decides it takes.
“He fed four times during the session and she never once seemed rushed. That is why the photos look peaceful.”
Emily and Josh T., Studio session, day 9
“Our toddler was in a mood and somehow ended up in the best photo of the set.”
Rachel M., Sibling portraits, Beaverton
“The Fresh 48 photos at the hospital are the ones my mother cried over.”
Danielle K., Fresh 48 session
Reserve during your second trimester if you can, because I only take four newborn sessions a month. You book your due date, not a fixed session date, and we set the actual morning once the baby arrives. Text me when you deliver and we will find a slot in that first two weeks.
It is still very much worth doing. Babies older than about three weeks tend to sleep less deeply and stretch out, so we do more awake and wrapped images and fewer curled poses. Those sessions are lovely, just different, and I will show you examples so expectations match.
Extra diapers, a change of clothes for you, a pacifier if you use one, and formula or a plan for feeding. Wraps, headbands, hats and all props are here. Dress yourselves in simple solid colors and skip the baby outfit, since most of the images are wrapped.
The poses used here are done with the baby fully supported at all times, and anything that looks unsupported is a composite of two frames with an adult's hands in each. I never force a baby into a position they resist. If your baby does not want a certain pose, we move on rather than push it.
Send your due date and whether you want studio or in home. I will confirm a spot and we will pin the exact morning after the baby arrives.
