Yvette started Home Base in 2013 after a boarding kennel sent her dog home with kennel cough twice. Every sitter here is a background checked W-2 employee, not a contractor picked off an app, and each client is assigned one sitter with a named backup who has also met your pets.

Pet sitting questions
How many visits a day does my pet need?
Cats generally do fine with one visit a day, two if they are on medication or you are away more than a week. Dogs need a minimum of three visits, and most dogs are happier with an overnight. Puppies and seniors need more, and we will tell you honestly rather than upsell you.
How do you get into my house?
At the free meet and greet we collect a key or a lockbox code, and keys are stored coded rather than labeled with your address. Smart locks work fine too, just give the sitter a unique code you can revoke later. We confirm entry and exit on every visit through the app.
What happens in an emergency?
You sign a vet release at signup naming your preferred clinic and a spending limit. If something is wrong, we call you first, and if you are unreachable we transport to your clinic or the nearest emergency vet. Every sitter is certified in pet first aid and CPR.
How far ahead should I book?
Two weeks is comfortable for ordinary weeks. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break fill six to eight weeks out and we cap holiday bookings so no sitter is running twenty visits a day. New clients always need a meet and greet before the first booking, so build in time for that.
