Eight reformers, and an instructor who watches all eight

Classical and contemporary reformer classes capped at eight so form gets corrected in real time. Beginners take a private or a fundamentals class first, and it makes all the difference.

The studio

Small classes because the corrections matter

Anchor Point opened in 2016 above a bookstore on King Street with six reformers and now runs eight. Every instructor has completed at least a 500 hour comprehensive certification, which is not the industry norm. We cap classes at eight because past that, an instructor is cueing a room rather than watching individuals, and Pilates done without correction is just moving around.

•All instructors comprehensively certified, 500 hours minimum
•Beginners start with a private or the fundamentals course
•Equipment serviced quarterly, springs replaced on schedule
A contemporary Pilates studio equipped with multiple wooden reformers for fitness training.

FAQ

New client questions

I have never done Pilates. Where do I start?

Either a single private session or the four week fundamentals course. The reformer has springs, straps and moving parts, and twenty minutes of orientation makes your first group class useful instead of confusing.

What should I wear and do I need equipment?

Fitted clothing so the instructor can see your alignment, and grip socks, which we sell for $18 or you can bring your own. Everything else is provided. Avoid loose shorts and zippers, which catch on the carriage.

Can I do Pilates with an injury or while pregnant?

Often yes, with modifications, and it is one of the reasons people come. Tell us at booking. For pregnancy we recommend starting with a private so the instructor can set your modifications before you join a group.

What is the cancellation window for classes?

Twelve hours before class start. Cancel inside that and the class is deducted from your pack, because with eight spots a late drop usually cannot be filled. Waitlists move fast, so it is worth joining one.
