Northgate was founded in 2009 by a former paralegal who spent too many hearings watching service get challenged on thin affidavits. Every attempt is logged with GPS coordinates, a timestamp, and a description of what the server observed, which is what holds up when opposing counsel questions it. Our servers are registered in every county where they work and carry ID on every attempt.
“Opposing counsel challenged service and their affidavit had GPS, a timestamp, and a physical description. The motion went nowhere.”
Rachel B., Family law firm, Seattle
“The defendant had moved twice. Their skip trace found him in Tacoma in two days and he was served the next morning.”
Victor S., Collections attorney
“We run about thirty unlawful detainers a month and the postings are always compliant. No judge has ever kicked one back.”
Dana L., Property management, Everett
We vary the times and days of attempts, since someone dodging a morning knock is often home on a Sunday evening. If three attempts fail we document each one in detail and can provide a declaration of due diligence supporting a motion for alternative service by mail or posting. Many judges grant it on the strength of a well documented attempt log.
Standard service makes three attempts within five business days. Rush puts a server on it within twenty four hours, and same day service is attempted the same business day if we receive documents before one in the afternoon. Rural addresses outside the central Puget Sound corridor may add a day for travel.
We cover King, Snohomish, Pierce, Kitsap, and Thurston directly with our own servers. Anywhere else in Washington we assign through a vetted network of registered servers and manage the job and paperwork ourselves, so you still get one point of contact and one affidavit format.
The documents to be served, the name and last known address of the person, and any details that help, such as a vehicle, a work schedule, or a physical description. Photos help more than people expect. If the address is questionable, order the skip trace up front rather than paying for three attempts at an empty house.
Upload through the client portal or email them in and the job is assigned the same business day. Rates and status are visible in the portal at all times.
