Our school
A parish school open to families of any faith
Saint Bede has been on Ridgewood since 1954 and roughly one in five of our families is not Catholic. Religion is a daily class and Mass is weekly, and non Catholic students participate fully in the classroom while their families decide about sacraments. Our teachers average eleven years here, which is unusual and something we work hard to protect.

Admissions and tuition questions
Do we have to be Catholic to enroll?
No, and about twenty percent of our families are not. All students attend daily religion class and weekly Mass as part of the school day, and non Catholic students participate at whatever level their family is comfortable with during the sacramental parts. Parish membership does affect the tuition rate but not admission.
How does tuition assistance work?
Families submit a confidential financial application to a third party service, and awards are decided by a committee that does not see names. Around sixty four percent of our families receive some assistance and awards range widely. Applying has no effect on whether your child is admitted.
What happens after grade 8?
Our graduates go to a mix of Catholic and public high schools in the area, and about a third earn placement in honors math or English on entry. The grade 8 team runs high school placement meetings with each family in the fall. We do not steer students toward any particular high school.
Can you support a child with a learning difference?
We have an intervention specialist on staff and support students with mild to moderate learning differences through accommodation plans. What we cannot provide is a full time aide or a self contained special education setting. We will be honest during the admissions conversation about whether we are the right fit.
