About us

We shadowed 40 managers before writing code

Cadence started in 2021 after cofounders Priya Raghavan and Sam Deitrick spent four months shadowing general managers at restaurants and urgent care clinics. Almost every one of them was building schedules in a spreadsheet at 11pm on Thursday. We are 22 people in Austin, funded by a seed round, and every engineer sits in on customer calls monthly.

What operators report

“Thursday night scheduling used to eat three hours per store. It is under 30 minutes now and my GMs stopped quitting over it.”

Alicia N., Director of ops, 14 restaurants

“The overtime flag caught $6,400 in a single month before payroll ran. It paid for the year in week two.”

Ben T., Owner, 6 urgent care clinics

“Migration from our old tool took nine days including a parallel week. Nobody missed a shift.”

Grace L., HR lead, retail chain
FAQ

Evaluation questions

How long does implementation take?

Under ten locations is typically five to nine days including a parallel week where you run Cadence alongside your current process. Larger rollouts run two to four weeks. We import rosters, pay rates and availability from a spreadsheet or your existing tool.

Which payroll and POS systems do you connect to?

Payroll: Gusto, ADP Run and Workforce Now, Paychex Flex and Rippling. POS: Toast, Square, Lightspeed and Clover for demand forecasting. Anything else can push and pull through the API on the Enterprise plan.

What happens to our data if we leave?

You can export schedules, time punches and employee records to CSV at any time from settings, on any plan. After cancellation we keep your data for 30 days in case you come back, then delete it. There is no export fee and no contract lock in below Enterprise.

Does it handle predictive scheduling laws?

Yes for Oregon, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City and Emeryville. The system enforces advance notice windows, tracks premium pay owed for late changes and produces the record keeping report those ordinances require.
