The reserve
A working conservation property, not a hotel
The Nel family dropped the internal fences in 2004 and joined the wider conservancy, which is why plains game and predators move freely across the property. Our guides average nine years on this ground, and most grew up nearby. A share of every bed night goes to the anti-poaching unit that patrols the eastern boundary.

Planning your safari
What is the best time of year to visit?
May to September is dry season, with thinner bush and animals concentrating at water, which makes sightings easier. November to March is green, hot and excellent for birds and newborn animals, with afternoon thunderstorms.
Is the reserve malaria free?
This part of Limpopo is a low-risk malaria area, and risk is lowest in the dry winter months. Please speak to a travel clinic about prophylaxis, we do not give medical advice, and we provide nets and repellent in every suite.
Are children welcome?
Children 6 and over are welcome on standard drives. Younger children can stay in the family suite with a private vehicle booked at an additional daily rate, which keeps the pacing flexible.
How many nights should we stay?
Three nights is the practical minimum, giving six drives, which is usually enough for a broad range of sightings. Four or five nights lets you slow down and follow specific animals rather than ticking a list.
