Fifth Ward opened in 2018 when a butcher from Federal Hill and a baker from a downtown restaurant decided the only sandwich worth selling is one where both halves are made in house. We cure our own capicola, roast the porchetta overnight, and pull bread at six in the morning. When something sells out, it is out until tomorrow.
“The porchetta is the best sandwich in Providence and I will argue about it.”
Nick D., Fox Point regular
“They cater our monthly all hands and the trays come back empty every time.”

“Order ahead has saved my lunch break more times than I can count.”

Yes, and we recommend it between 11:45 and 1. Orders placed online go on the pickup shelf by the register, usually within fifteen minutes at off peak times.
We deliver downtown and on the East Side for orders over 75 dollars, with a one hour lead time. Larger catering orders need to be placed by 4pm the day before.
We keep a gluten free roll in stock, but we bake and slice in a shared kitchen with wheat flour in the air, so we cannot call it safe for celiac customers.
We make a fixed amount of each item every morning and do not hold product over. Porchetta usually goes by 1:30 on Fridays, so call ahead if you have your heart set on it.
