Start with a diagnostic, not a prep book

The digital SAT adapts, so a generic plan wastes hours. We diagnose which question types are actually costing points, then work only on those, with proctored practice tests along the way.

Our method

We chase the four question types, not the whole book

Meridian has prepped students since 2009 and moved fully to digital SAT materials when the format changed. Most students lose the majority of their points on a handful of recurring question types, so we identify those from the diagnostic and spend the hours there instead of marching through a thousand page book. Every practice test is proctored under real timing, because pacing is half the score.

Reviews

Student outcomes

“1180 on the diagnostic, 1350 on the March test. They cut out everything he was already good at.”

Sunita R., Parent, junior

“The proctored practice tests were the difference. I stopped running out of time on the math module.”

Jack T., Naperville North

“Group course cost half of what a one on one would have and my daughter still gained 90 points.”

Melissa H., Parent, Wheaton
FAQ

SAT prep questions

When should my student start?

Most students prep in the spring of junior year for the March or May test, starting eight to twelve weeks out. Starting earlier than that tends to fade, and cramming in the final two weeks rarely moves more than a few points.

How much can a score realistically improve?

Our full program students average about a 130 point gain, with larger jumps common for students starting in the low 1000s and smaller ones near the top of the scale. We set a target at the diagnostic based on the starting score, not a marketing number.

Is the digital SAT different to prepare for?

Yes. It is shorter, adaptive between modules, and the reading passages are much briefer, so old paper based strategies about skimming long passages no longer apply. All of our materials are built for the current digital format.

Should we do the SAT or the ACT?

Take a proctored practice of each and compare percentiles, which is a two Saturday investment that saves months of preparing for the wrong test. We offer both diagnostics and will tell you honestly which one suits the student.
