About us

Two enrolled agents and a very organized front desk

Marta Kovach opened Blue Line in 2009 after years at a national storefront chain where the pricing changed depending on who walked in. Everything here is posted. Both preparers are IRS Enrolled Agents, which means we can represent you before the IRS, and we review any notice a past client receives at no charge.

•Enrolled Agents, licensed to represent you before the IRS

Reviews

What clients say

“The chain place quoted me $180 and charged $460. Blue Line quoted $275 and charged $275. That is the whole review.”

Terrence O., Itemized return

“First year self employed and I had no idea about quarterlies. Marta set up a schedule so April did not wreck me.”

Hana D., Schedule C filer

“Got an IRS notice in August. They handled the response and did not charge me a dime for it.”

FAQ

Filing questions

What should I bring to my appointment?

Photo ID, Social Security numbers for everyone on the return, all W2s and 1099s, last year's return, and records for anything you plan to deduct. Self employed filers should bring a profit and loss or at least a categorized spreadsheet, plus mileage totals.

How fast will I get my refund?

The IRS typically issues e filed refunds with direct deposit in about 21 days. Returns claiming the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit are held by law until mid February regardless of how early you file, which surprises people every year.

What if I cannot pay what I owe?

File anyway and on time, because the failure to file penalty is roughly ten times the failure to pay penalty. We will set up an IRS installment agreement with you at the appointment, which most people qualify for online in a few minutes.

Do I have to come in, or can this be done remotely?

Fully remote works well. You upload documents to our secure portal, we prepare the return, then we walk through it on a call and you sign electronically. About a third of our clients never set foot in the office.
