The parts you never see decide how long it lasts
Setline is a three person crew that only does tile, which means we are not squeezing your bathroom in between drywall jobs. Waterproofing systems are installed to the manufacturer's published detail, not a shortcut version, and we photograph each layer before it gets covered. Every wet area gets a 24 hour flood test that you are welcome to inspect.

Tile questions homeowners ask
Why does one shower quote cost twice another?
Almost always the waterproofing system. A cement board and mastic build is cheap and starts failing in a few years, while a bonded sheet or foam system installed to spec costs more up front and lasts decades. Ask any bidder which system they use by name and whether they flood test.
How long will my bathroom be out of service?
A full bathroom typically takes five to nine working days, and that includes the 24 hour flood test and grout cure time. Rushing those two steps is what causes callbacks, so we build them into the schedule rather than treating them as optional. You get a day by day plan before we start.
Do I really need an uncoupling membrane on the floor?
On a wood subfloor, yes in nearly every case, because wood moves seasonally and rigid tile does not. The membrane lets the two move independently and is why our floors do not develop cracked grout lines in year three. On a sound concrete slab it is sometimes unnecessary and we will say so.
Can you match tile in an older home?
Sometimes, for repairs. Discontinued tile can occasionally be sourced from salvage or a leftover box in your basement, and we will look before recommending replacement. If the match is close but not exact, running the repair to a natural break line usually reads better than a patch in the middle of a wall.
