Our studio
A private room, not a sales floor
Crown & Coil is appointment only because a first wig fitting is a private moment for a lot of our clients. Roughly a third of the studio's work is medical, for clients going through chemotherapy or living with alopecia, and those appointments are booked with extra time and no overlap. We keep your cap pattern on file so reorders do not start from scratch.

Questions before your first visit
How long does a custom unit take?
Three to five weeks from the fitting appointment, because the cap is built to your measurements and the hair is ventilated by hand. Rush builds are sometimes possible for a fee, but the quality difference is real and we will tell you if it is not advisable. Ready to wear units can be customized and taken home the same day.
Will insurance cover a medical wig?
Some plans do, usually when it is billed as a cranial prosthesis with a prescription from your physician. We provide an itemized receipt with the correct language and the codes your insurer will ask for, but we do not bill insurance directly. Ask your provider about a cranial prosthesis benefit before your appointment.
How long will my unit last?
A human hair custom unit with regular maintenance typically lasts one to two years of daily wear. Lace at the front wears fastest and can be replaced two or three times over that life. Sleeping in it and skipping conditioning are the two habits that cut that timeline in half.
Can I wash and style it myself?
Yes, and you will leave with written instructions specific to your unit's hair type and cap. Cool water, sulfate free shampoo, condition the mid lengths and ends only, and air dry on a stand. Heat tools are fine on human hair but should stay under 350 degrees.
