How we operate
Same leader, same group, all six years
Crosswalk assigns a small group leader in sixth grade who stays with those students through graduation when possible, because trust with a teenager is built over years and not in a semester. Every adult is background checked and completes annual training on youth protection. Parents get a weekly email that says exactly what was taught, so nothing is a surprise.

What happens on a Wednesday night?
Doors open at 6:15 with games and food, there is a fifteen minute talk around 7, and the rest of the time is small groups of about eight students with the same two leaders each week. It ends at 8:30 in the parking lot with leaders present until the last student is picked up. Students who show up alone are walked in by a leader on their first night.
How do you screen the adults who work with my kid?
Every leader completes a background check before their first night and is re screened every two years, plus annual youth protection training. We require two unrelated adults in every room and every vehicle, and leaders do not meet students one on one or message them privately without a parent included. These are written policies you can request.
My teenager is not religious. Will they be pressured?
No. Students are welcome to come, listen, disagree out loud, and ask hard questions, and our leaders are trained to treat those questions as legitimate rather than as problems. Nobody is called out, singled out, or asked to make a decision in front of the group. Plenty of our students are there because a friend brought them.
What do the trips cost and what if we cannot afford it?
Camp is $395, the fall retreat is $145, and the mission trip is $850 with fundraising support. Scholarships are available for every trip and the request goes to one staff member who does not discuss it with anyone, including your student. No student has ever been left behind over cost and we intend to keep it that way.
