Moving a Wix site to We.Inc is a rebuild. This guide does not promise a native Wix import, automatic transfer of store data, or an identical design. It is a planning walkthrough, not a timed migration test.
[Wix's export guidance](https://support.wix.com/en/article/can-i-host-a-wix-site-on) explains that a Wix site cannot be exported for hosting elsewhere because it relies on Wix services. Save the content and assets you have rights to reuse, then recreate the pages and required functions.
1. Record what must survive
- List every live page URL, page title, description, heading and important internal link. Include blog posts and store products, not just the navigation.
- Keep copies of your own copy, original images, alt text, downloadable documents and business contact details.
- Record forms, booking tools, customer accounts, payment flows, analytics and email integrations. Treat each as a separate migration requirement.
2. Rebuild a small working version
Start with a suitable template or use a paid AI plan to describe the pages and content you need. A sample brief: Rebuild my bakery's five-page website with Home, Menu, About, Catering and Contact. Keep the supplied page addresses and copy, show my own photos, and use the existing external booking link. Use a test email address until the form is verified.
A generated layout is not proof that bookings, checkout, customer login or subscription renewals work. Do not move those functions until their replacement is configured and tested. Wix customer passwords and Wix-hosted services are not transferred by rebuilding the visible pages.
3. Preserve URLs or verify redirects
Reuse existing paths where the rebuilt site supports them. For each changed path, record its destination and verify a permanent HTTP redirect at the new serving host before launch. A DNS change alone does not create page redirects. Do not assume Wix's redirect manager keeps serving after your domain points away from Wix.
[Wix redirect documentation](https://support.wix.com/en/article/setting-up-a-301-redirect-for-a-page-on-your-site) describes its own platform's limits, including free Wix URLs. If your old address is a wixsite.com URL, do not promise control over redirects from that address.
4. Test before changing the domain
- Publish the replacement to its preview address and open every listed page on a phone and desktop.
- Send a test form submission, check that it arrives, and verify all external links and downloadable files.
- Check titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, robots settings and the sitemap. Remove accidental noindex settings from public pages only when launch is ready.
- Save the current DNS records and preserve email MX and TXT records. Custom-domain connection requires a paid We.Inc plan.
- Change domain routing only after the replacement works. Check HTTPS, old URLs and email after propagation, and retain the old site and a rollback record until those checks pass.
Important
Keep the Wix site and subscription active while you test. This guide does not migrate orders, memberships, payment agreements, mailbox data or registrar ownership. Handle each with its provider's documented process.
