About this design
Journalist and Writer Portfolio opens on a clean off-white background with a two-column split: a large editorial serif headline — "The reporting behind the quiet parts of American work." — fills the left column, while a candid portrait photograph of the journalist, warm and relaxed, anchors the right. A small italic label identifies the subject as a journalist and essayist, and a short descriptor explains the long-form labour reporting focus. A deep green "Read the latest feature" button and a plain text location tag — "Based in Cincinnati, Ohio" — complete the hero.
Navigation (Writing, Essays, About, Contact, Newsletter) is spare with a newsletter pill button highlighted. No decorative elements appear beyond the portrait photograph; all atmosphere comes from the typography and white space. A selected work section lists recent features with category tags, and a currently-reporting piece links to an excerpt. The template suits journalists, essayists, and non-fiction writers who want a portfolio site that communicates editorial credibility and voice over visual spectacle.
