Methodology
Source: We.Inc's production database. We counted builder projects (one project = one site) created from March 1 to September 23, 2026 (September is a partial month).
Only aggregate counts and medians were queried. No names, emails, prompts, or site content were read out or published.
Published means the site has a publish date or a live address recorded. Sites later taken down still count as published once.
Time to first site and time to first publish use accounts created in the same window whose first site came after signup. Medians, not averages, because a few accounts return weeks later.
Business type was assigned by keyword rules on the project name, short description and starting template (for example 'restaurant', 'cafe' or 'bakery' means food). The first matching rule wins. Categories with fewer than 20 sites are folded into Other.
The site language could not be measured reliably (no language field is stored), so it is not reported.
Limitations
About half of sites (1,084, 52%) have generic names like 'My website' and could not be classified. Category shares are therefore shares of all sites, not of classified ones.
Counts include sites started by our own team for testing and support, and sites made by white-label partners' clients. We could not reliably separate these, so treat small differences as noise.
Keyword rules miss synonyms and can misfile (an 'app' for a restaurant counts as software). Treat categories as directional.
One platform's users are not the whole market. These numbers describe We.Inc, not all website builders.
