Website Cost Calculator

Pick how many pages and features your site needs and compare three routes: hiring a freelancer, hiring an agency, or building it yourself with a website builder. Every rate and hour estimate is shown and editable, so the result is an estimate you can check, not a number from nowhere.

How it works

  1. Choose the number of pages and the features you need.
  2. The calculator estimates build hours from those choices. The hour assumptions are listed under the results.
  3. Freelancer and agency costs are those hours times the hourly rate you enter. The default rates are illustrative assumptions, not quotes.
  4. Yearly costs add domain, hosting or plan fees and any maintenance you choose. The builder route uses We.Inc's published plan prices.
  5. Compare first year, renewal year and three-year totals, then download the itemised brief.

What goes into the cost of a website

A website has a one-off build cost and ongoing running costs. The build is mostly people's time: design, writing, building pages and features, and testing. Running costs are the domain name, hosting or a builder plan, and any maintenance you pay someone to do.

The biggest drivers are the number of distinct page designs and the features that need logic behind them, such as booking, payments or member areas.

Reading the three routes

A freelancer usually costs less per hour than an agency, while an agency adds project management and a team. A website builder swaps most of the build cost for a monthly plan and your own time. None is right for everyone; the calculator lets you see the trade on the same page.

Tips

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this website cost estimate?

It is a rough estimate based on the hours and rates listed under the results. Real quotes vary with location, experience and how clearly you describe the project. Edit the rates to match quotes you have received.

Where do the default hourly rates come from?

They are illustrative assumptions for comparison, not survey data or quotes. Replace them with rates from freelancers and agencies you are talking to.

What does a We.Inc website cost?

The free plan gives you up to 3 template sites on a we.inc address, with no AI credits and no custom domain. Starter is $20 a month, Pro $50 and Max $99. A custom domain is registered separately.

Why compare three years?

A cheap build with high monthly fees can cost more over three years than a bigger one-off build. Three years is a common life span before a site needs a redesign.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing is sent to We.Inc.
