Squarespace's AI builder (Blueprint AI) is on every plan and makes a polished starting site in minutes, but you still finish it by hand. Plans, AI credits, fees and alternatives, checked September 2026.
Squarespace's AI website builder is worth it if you already want Squarespace: it gives you a polished, on-brand starting site in a few minutes, and it is included on every plan. It is not worth it if you expect the AI to write a finished site for you. As of September 2026, it builds the frame, and you still write most of the real content by hand.
Start free with a template site; AI builds from one prompt on paid plans from $20/mo. If you want to compare while you read, the Starter plan turns a description of your business into a full multi-page draft.
Squarespace launched its AI site builder under the name Blueprint AI. Instead of picking a template and filling it in, you answer a short set of questions: what the business is, which pages you need, and which look and feel you prefer. Squarespace then assembles a site from its own design system, with a color palette, font pairing, page layouts and draft text.
The key point is that Blueprint AI works inside Squarespace's design rules. It picks from sections and styles that Squarespace's designers already made, which is why the output rarely looks broken. It is also why two Blueprint sites for the same kind of business can look similar.
We could not verify Squarespace's exact dollar prices for every plan on the day we checked, because the pricing page shows different figures by region and billing term. Use the numbers below as a guide and confirm them on the Squarespace pricing page before you buy.
| Squarespace (Basic) | Squarespace (higher plans) | Wix (Light) | We.Inc (Free) | We.Inc (Starter) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | From about $16 to $25/mo, check current pricing | Higher, check current pricing | $17/mo | $0 | $20/mo |
| Free plan | No, 14-day trial | No, 14-day trial | Yes, with ads | Yes (3 template sites, no AI) | n/a |
| AI builder | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | Yes, full site from one prompt |
| AI credits | 10 | More | Varies | None (AI from $20/mo) | 250/mo |
| Transaction fee | 2% | 0% platform fee | 0% platform fee | n/a | 0% platform fee |
| Custom domain | Yes | Yes | Yes | No (we.inc address) | Yes |
Two things in that table matter more than the headline price. First, 10 AI credits on Basic runs out fast if you lean on the AI for copy edits. Second, the 2% fee on Basic is a real cost for any shop.
The whole generation step takes minutes. The editing step is where the time goes. The draft copy is generic enough that most businesses rewrite it, and you will replace most stock photos with your own.
Pros
Cons
It is a good fit for photographers, restaurants, salons, consultants and small shops who care about looks, will spend an afternoon polishing, and want booking or a simple store in the same place. If that is you, Blueprint AI is a genuine time saver on day one.
It is a weaker fit if you want to publish today without writing copy, want a free plan to test with, or build sites for clients and want to resell them under your own brand.
We.Inc is an AI website builder too, so here is where it is different and where it is not.
Want to see the kind of sites a one-prompt build starts from? Look at the Lucia Trattoria restaurant template, the Brightside Dental template or the Forge Athletics gym template.

The trial is the only free look you get, so use it deliberately.
Squarespace sites serve clean, crawlable pages and let you set titles, descriptions and URLs, so the technical basics are solid. The AI draft does not do your keyword work for you. Pages built from generic copy rarely rank for anything specific, so the SEO value comes from rewriting each page around the services and places your customers actually search for.
Squarespace's AI builder is a good feature on a good platform. It makes the blank page disappear and produces a site that looks designed. It does not remove the work of writing your content, the Basic plan's 10 AI credits are thin, and there is no free way to publish. If you are already choosing Squarespace, use it. If you want the AI to write the whole site and let you publish free, try a one-prompt builder first.
Start free with a template site; AI builds from one prompt on paid plans from $20/mo. On Starter, describe your business in a sentence and get a complete site.
We.Inc is an AI-powered website builder you can resell under your own brand. Launch a branded client dashboard, bill on Stripe Connect, and deliver AI-generated websites in minutes. White-label plans are custom priced, with no per-site fees.
