Firebase Pricing

Firebase has two plans. Spark costs nothing and needs no payment method, but a product stops for the rest of the month once its free quota runs out. Blaze is pay as you go: the same free quotas apply, then usage is billed, for example $0.15 per GB of Hosting transfer. Prices as of October 2026.

Updated

Firebase bills per product, per project, so the useful question is which of your products will pass its free line. Enter your expected usage below. The estimator compares each figure with the published free quota and, where Firebase lists a flat price, works out the monthly charge. All figures are from Firebase's pricing page as of October 2026.

Firebase cost estimator

Daily figures are multiplied by 30 to make a month, so treat results as approximate.

Free quotas by product (as of October 2026)

These amounts are free on both plans. Prices beyond them are shown where Firebase lists a flat rate.

Budget alerts: what they do and do not do

A budget alert emails you when spending passes a level you choose. It does not pause anything. To stop spending automatically, you write a small function that disables billing when the alert fires, which Firebase documents as an option.

A read-saving query

Loading 20 documents at a time instead of the whole collection keeps Firestore reads close to what people actually look at.

import { collection, query, orderBy, limit, getDocs } from "firebase/firestore";

const firstPage = query(collection(db, "products"), orderBy("name"), limit(20));
const snap = await getDocs(firstPage); // 20 reads, not one per product in the store

Reading the pricing page

The page lists each product with its free amount and what happens beyond it. For most small apps the products that matter are Firestore, Storage, Hosting, Functions and Authentication.

Some rows show a flat price, such as $0.026 per GB of Hosting storage. Others, including Firestore beyond its free amounts, say Google Cloud pricing applies, which means the rate depends on the region your database lives in.

Keeping the bill small

Cache what you show often, page long lists, and lock down your security rules so strangers cannot read your database at your expense. Watch the usage tab weekly while traffic grows.

How it works

  1. Enter daily Firestore reads, writes and deletes, and how much data you store.
  2. Add Hosting storage and daily transfer, and monthly Cloud Functions calls.
  3. Each row shows whether you are inside the free quota and, on Blaze, the cost of the excess.
  4. Firestore excess is billed at Google Cloud rates that vary by location, so the estimator shows the excess amount and links the rate table instead of guessing.

Tips

Frequently asked questions

Is Firebase free?

The Spark plan is free with no payment method. It includes, for example, 50K Firestore document reads a day, 10 GB of Hosting storage and 50K monthly active users for Authentication. Some products, like Cloud Functions, need Blaze.

What happens when I exceed the Spark plan?

Firebase says usage of that specific product is shut off for the remainder of the month. It resumes in the next billing cycle or when you upgrade to Blaze.

Do budget alerts cap my Firebase bill?

No. Firebase's own guidance says budget alerts do not pause services. You can use budget notifications to disable billing on a project programmatically, which you have to set up yourself.

Does Blaze still include the free quotas?

Yes. The pricing page lists the same no-cost amounts on Blaze, with charges only beyond them.

How does Firebase compare with Supabase on price?

Firebase bills each product by usage beyond its free quota. For the paid plans of both side by side, read our Supabase vs Firebase guide.
