How to Add the TikTok Pixel to Your Website
TikTok Ads Manager has its own Events Manager: create a web pixel there, copy the code or ID, and place it in the head of your site or in your builder's TikTok field. Then map the events that matter, such as Submit Form or Purchase, and check them with TikTok's Pixel Helper extension in Chrome.
| Event | Good for |
|---|---|
| Submit Form | Contact, quote and lead forms |
| Complete Registration | Account or webinar signups |
| Contact | Click-to-call or email links |
| Download | Brochures, apps, lead magnets |
| Purchase | Shop orders |
Updated
If you run TikTok ads, the pixel is how TikTok learns which viewers went on to do something useful on your site. Without it, campaigns can only optimise for clicks. TikTok refreshed its event list in 2023, so older guides that mention industry event sets are out of date.
Add the TikTok Pixel on We.Inc, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or plain HTML
We.Inc
- From the builder's "..." menu pick Add-ons.
- Open TikTok Pixel and enter your pixel ID.
- Switch it on; We.Inc also turns on its consent banner automatically, because ad tags need opt-in.
- Press Publish so the tag reaches the live site.
WordPress
- Install a header and footer code plugin from Plugins, Add Plugin, or use TikTok's listed WordPress integration if Events Manager offers it for your site.
- Paste the TikTok base code into the site-wide header box.
- Save, clear any page cache, and test with Pixel Helper.
WordPress.com sites need a paid plan to install plugins.
Wix
- Create the pixel in TikTok Ads Manager and copy its ID and code.
- In the Wix dashboard go to Marketing Integrations and click Connect under TikTok Pixel.
- Enter the TikTok ID, paste the pixel code and save.
- To change it later, return to Marketing Integrations and click View under TikTok Pixel.
Marketing Integrations need an upgraded Wix site with a connected domain. TikTok also offers its own TikTok Ads app in the Wix App Market.
Squarespace
- Go to the Code Injection panel from the Custom Code area of the Pages panel.
- Paste the TikTok base code into Header and click Save.
- Republish if needed and test on the live domain.
Requires a Core, Plus or Advanced plan (Code Injection is not on lower plans).
Plain HTML
- Paste the base code inside <head> on each page.
- Call ttq.track with the event name on the success page or after the form submits.
- Deploy and confirm with Pixel Helper and Events Manager.
Sending Submit Form after a successful form
The base code must load first. In code the event name is written without spaces.
<script>
ttq.track('SubmitForm');

What changes compared with other ad pixels
TikTok's list includes events Meta does not have, such as Submit Form, Download and Application Approval. If your goal is a form, Submit Form is the natural pick rather than a generic lead event.
TikTok also offers a server route, the Events API, for advertisers who want events that do not depend on the browser. Most small sites start with the pixel alone.
Consent
TikTok's pixel is advertising tracking, so anyone visiting from the EU or UK has to opt in first. Load it behind a consent banner; see /guides/how-to-add-cookie-banner-to-website for how to add one.
How it works
- In TikTok Ads Manager open Events Manager and create a web data source (the pixel).
- Choose manual setup to get the code, or a partner integration if your platform is listed.
- Place the base code on every page, then set the events your campaigns optimise for.
- Open your site with TikTok Pixel Helper running and fix any errors it flags.
Tips
- TikTok Pixel Helper shows errors and recommendations, but TikTok's reporting can include events the extension does not display, so check both.
- Name the pixel after the site, not the campaign; one pixel should serve every campaign for that domain.
- If a Wix site shows TikTok events twice, look for a second pixel added through custom code.
- Use the Download event for PDF guides instead of a custom event; standard events are easier to optimise against.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a TikTok business account to get a pixel?
You need a TikTok Ads Manager account, because the pixel is created in its Events Manager. A personal TikTok profile alone cannot create one.
Can I install the TikTok Pixel through Google Tag Manager?
Yes. TikTok supports manual code, tag managers and partner platforms. Pick one route only, or every visit is counted twice.
Why does Pixel Helper say no pixel found?
Usually the site was not republished after adding the code, the consent banner has not been accepted, or an ad blocker is hiding the script from the extension.
