For headings, choose one style and keep to it across the whole site or document. Title case feels formal and is common in American publishing; sentence case reads more like speech and is now the usual choice for buttons, menus and help pages.
Avoid long runs of upper case. People recognise words partly by their shape, and capitals remove that shape, so a paragraph in capitals is slower to read. Keep capitals for short labels and for acronyms.
Programming languages each have habits. JavaScript uses camelCase for variables, Python uses snake_case, and CSS classes and web addresses are usually kebab-case. Following the habit of the language you are in makes your code easier for others to read.
For page addresses, kebab-case is the safe choice. Search engines treat a hyphen as a space between words, while an underscore can join two words into one, and capital letters in an address cause trouble on servers that treat upper and lower case as different pages.
Title case gives each main word a capital letter, as in a book title or headline. Short joining words such as 'a', 'and', 'of' and 'the' stay in lower case unless they are the first word.
Sentence case capitalises only the first letter of each sentence and leaves the rest in lower case, the way normal prose is written.
All three join several words into one name. camelCase removes the spaces and capitalises each word after the first; snake_case uses underscores between lower-case words; kebab-case uses hyphens.
Upper, lower, title and sentence case keep accented letters and convert them properly. The three naming cases are meant for code and addresses, so they keep only the letters A to Z and digits.
