This meta tag generator creates title, description, canonical and social sharing tags for a page. Enter your page details, preview search results and check the tags before copying them. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
The title tag names the page in search results and browser tabs. The meta description is the short summary that often appears under it. The canonical link tells search engines which address to credit when the same page can be reached in more than one way.
Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url) control the card that appears when someone shares the page on social networks and in messaging apps. X reads its own twitter: tags and falls back to Open Graph when they are missing.
Desktop titles are measured at about 20 pixels in Arial against a width of roughly 580 pixels. Descriptions are measured at about 14 pixels against roughly two lines of text on desktop and a little less on mobile. These are working estimates based on how results commonly display, not published limits.
Search results cut titles by display width, not by a character count. A title full of wide letters like W and M runs out of room sooner than one with narrow letters like i and l. Measuring pixels gives a better estimate than the usual 60-character rule, though the exact cut-off still varies by device and search engine.
The canonical tag tells search engines which address is the main version of a page. It is broken when it is relative (just /page), points to http on an https site, includes tracking parameters or a # fragment, or points to a different page by mistake. Any of these can send ranking signals to the wrong address.
Meta tag values sit inside quotes in your HTML. If a title contains a double quote or an angle bracket and is pasted in unescaped, it can end the tag early and break the page head, or even let unwanted code in. This generator escapes those characters for you.
Major search engines have said for years that they do not use it for ranking, so this generator leaves it out. It does no harm, but it also reveals your target words to anyone reading the source.
Yes. It is free, needs no signup, and all the work happens in your browser. The social image preview loads the image address you enter directly from its own server, like any image on a web page.
Not always. Search engines may rewrite titles and descriptions, add dates or site names, and change result layouts. Treat the preview as a close estimate for checking length and wording.
