A social media audit is a review of each account you run: who follows it, how often you post, how people respond and whether the basics are in place. Enter the numbers for up to four accounts, tick a six-point checklist for each, and the tool calculates an engagement rate and a score per account, then lists the fixes. Print the report for yourself or a client.
An audit answers a simple question: is each account earning its keep? You list what you run, measure what you can and note what is missing. The result is a short list of changes ranked by how much effort they take.
Many businesses find accounts they forgot, such as an old page with a wrong address or a profile that links to a site that no longer exists. Finding and fixing these is often the quickest win, and it prevents customers from reaching outdated information.
Followers show reach, not interest. An account with fewer followers and a higher engagement rate may be doing more for the business than a large account nobody responds to. Look at both numbers together, and at the trend over several audits.
Posting rate matters because accounts that go quiet lose attention. The checklist item asks for at least one post a week. If that is too much for your team, post less often but keep it regular, and say so in the bio so people know what to expect.
Start with the fix list, which repeats each unticked item with a plain instruction. Do the profile fixes first because they take minutes. Then plan content around a single next step that every post points to, such as booking or visiting your site.
If your audit shows that your link leads to a weak page, fixing it will help more than any change to your posts. A fast, clear landing page for each account is often the missing piece, so make that page your first project.
Engagement rate is the average number of likes, comments and shares per post, divided by followers, times 100. For example, 60 interactions per post on an account with 2,000 followers is 3 percent. Other tools divide by reach or impressions, so only compare numbers worked out the same way.
Each account's score is the number of checklist items ticked divided by six, as a percentage. Four ticks out of six is 66.7 percent. The overall score is the average of the account scores.
It depends on the platform, the size of the audience and the type of content, so there is no single figure to aim for. Use your own history as the benchmark and look for a steady rise.
The six points apply to any public profile: a clear bio, a working link, consistent branding, a posting rhythm, replies and a next step. Add your own platform-specific checks in the notes of your final report.
It is a quick structured review that covers the basics. A full audit may also look at competitors, content types, audience and paid results. Use this as a first pass and a way to decide what deserves a closer look.
