Removing a Google Business Profile deletes your posts, photos, review replies and managers, but customer reviews stay and the business may still appear on Search and Maps. If you closed, mark it permanently closed. If you sold, transfer primary ownership. If you are only leaving, remove your own account.
| Option | Who can do it | Listing on Maps | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove profile content and managers | Primary owner only | May still show unless the business is ineligible | Customer reviews remain |
| Mark permanently closed | Not stated on Google's page | Fades from search, then is removed | Not stated by Google |
| Transfer primary ownership | Primary owner only | Stays, under the new owner | Kept |
| Remove yourself | You, for your own account | Unchanged | Unchanged |

People usually search for deleting a profile when what they want is one of four different things: closing, selling, stepping away or wiping their own content. They have very different results, and removing the profile is permanent. Pick your situation below to see which one fits and the steps Google gives for it.
What is your situation?
Steps
Keep in mind: Only the primary owner can transfer. The new owner waits 7 days before managing every feature.
Your website may still be found after the profile is marked closed. A short notice at the top of the home page saves people a wasted trip.
The address element marks contact details, as MDN describes. Replace the text with your own.

A sale is the case where deleting does the most harm. The buyer inherits the listing on Maps either way, but with a transfer they also keep the reviews and history you built. Add the buyer as an owner or manager first, then make them primary owner.
Marking the business permanently closed tells searchers the truth straight away, which a removed profile does not, since the listing may linger. It is the option Google offers specifically for a closure.
Not necessarily. Google's help page says that after removal your business might still show up on Search and Maps, unless it is considered an ineligible business.
Your own review replies are deleted, but Google says user-generated content and reviews remain. Removing the profile is not a way to clear reviews.
Only primary owners can remove profile content and managers, and Google says the removal is permanent and affects all owners and managers.
Turn on Mark your business as permanently closed in your profile settings. Google says the listing will not disappear from Maps right away; it slowly drops out of search results and is then removed.
You can manage the business again only by verifying the Business Profile again. The posts, photos and replies that were removed do not come back.
