Pros and cons

Webflow

Best for: Designers and agencies who want precise control

Price: Site plans billed yearly: Basic $15, Premium $25 a month. Store plans: Standard $29, Plus $74, Advanced $212 a month billed yearly

Pros: Fine control of layout without writing code; Collections for projects, posts and case studies; Clients can edit content without touching the design; Free Starter plan to build and learn

Cons: Takes real time to learn; Seats and add-ons add to the site plan; More than a simple local business site needs; Store plans cost more than site plans

We.Inc

Best for: People who want to describe a site or web app in plain English and have AI build it

Price: Free plan: up to 3 template sites on a we.inc address, no AI. AI building from $20/mo (Starter, 250 credits). Pro $50/mo, Max $99/mo.

Pros: Describe what you want in chat and AI builds a full, editable site or app; Edit by clicking on the page, by asking in chat, or in a real code editor; Export the React and TypeScript code to GitHub, so you are never locked in; Unlimited sites on paid plans, custom domains from Starter

Cons: The free plan is templates only; AI building needs a paid plan; Newer platform with a smaller app marketplace than the big names; Store features are simpler than a dedicated ecommerce platform

Verdict by buyer

A designer or agency building custom sites for clients: Webflow is a strong fit. A startup with a designer who wants a polished marketing site: a good fit. A local business owner who wants a site without learning a design tool: a simpler builder is the better route. Someone who wants the site written from a description: look at an AI website builder.

What Webflow does well

Webflow thinks like a web designer. You control spacing, layout and responsive behaviour closely, and collections let one design power many projects or posts. Handing a finished site to a client who only edits content is part of how it is designed to work.

Where Webflow falls short

The power takes time to learn, and the bill has more parts than a simple builder: a site plan per site, plus workspace seats and optional add-ons. For a small brochure site that will rarely change, that is more tool and more cost than the job needs.

What Webflow costs: first year and three years

Site plan fees only, using the yearly prices listed on September 25, 2026 and assuming no change: Basic is $180 a year and $540 over three years; Premium is $300 and $900. Store plans start at $348 a year ($29 a month) on Standard.

Not included: workspace seats for extra editors, add-ons and the domain. An agency running several client sites pays a site plan for each one. Check webflow.com/pricing for your case.

A five-task test to run before you pay for Webflow

Give Webflow the job an agency or studio would: a portfolio site with a list of projects and a few service pages.

1. Build a project collection with at least six projects that share one layout. 2. Build three service pages from one reusable section. 3. Hand the site to a non-designer and ask them to change a project's text and image without breaking the layout. 4. Connect a custom domain and confirm it loads with a padlock. 5. Check the site on a phone.

Note which plan and which seats each step needed. Editor access for a client is often where the real cost sits.

How to score the test

Use the same rubric for every tool you try, Webflow and We.Inc included, so neither gets a head start. For each of the five tasks give 2 points if it worked on the plan you intend to buy, 1 if it needed a higher plan, an add-on or several retries, and 0 if you could not do it. Keep a note of the time each task took. We have not published scores of our own because we have not run this test yet; the rubric is here so your comparison is fair.

Ownership, support and moving away

Webflow hosts the site. Its docs describe exporting a site's code on paid workspace plans, but an exported site loses features that depend on Webflow's hosting, such as collections and forms, so moving away usually means rebuilding those parts. Collection content can be exported as a spreadsheet file. Check Webflow's current docs before you rely on either.

Who should pick something else

If you need a straightforward business site and do not want to learn a design tool, a simpler builder fits better.

Where We.Inc fits: the free plan publishes up to 3 template sites on a we.inc address, with no AI and no custom domain, and needs no credit card. AI building, where you describe the site and it is written for you, starts at $20 a month (Starter, 250 credits); Pro is $50 and Max is $99.

Who wrote this and how

We.Inc makes a competing website builder, so read this with that in mind. Every price on this page comes from the vendor's own pricing page on the date shown, with a link to it. We say where the other option is the better choice, and we do not publish scores for tests we have not run.
