Opening Hours Schema Generator
Search engines can read your business hours from structured data on your website. Tick the days you open, set the times, and this tool writes the JSON-LD block with openingHoursSpecification, grouping days that share the same hours. Paste it into your page so the hours you show visitors and the hours in the markup match.

How it works
- Type your business name, choose the closest business type and add your website address.
- Tick each day you are open and set the opening and closing times in 24-hour time.
- Copy the script block and paste it into the head or body of the page that shows your hours, usually your home or contact page.
- Test the page with a structured data testing tool, and update the markup whenever your hours change.
Why hours belong in structured data
A visitor reads 9 to 5, Monday to Friday and understands it at once, but a crawler has to guess which numbers on the page are hours. Structured data removes the guessing by stating the hours in a fixed format that search engines and other tools can read reliably.
It also keeps you honest with yourself. Writing every day out forces you to decide what happens on Sundays and holidays, which are exactly the times people search for whether you are open.
Common mistakes
The most frequent problem is stale markup. Hours change for seasons or staffing, the visible text gets updated and the JSON-LD does not. Keep the markup next to the visible hours in your page editor, or generate both from one place, so they change together.
The second is choosing a business type that does not fit. LocalBusiness works for any shop or office, and more specific types such as Restaurant or Dentist are fine when they really describe you. Do not pick a type only because it sounds more important, since the markup must describe the real business.
Tips
- The markup must match the hours printed on the page. Hours in structured data that visitors cannot see are against search engine guidelines.
- Days you leave unticked are simply left out, which search engines read as closed.
- For a business open past midnight, set the closing time after the opening time on the next day, or split it: one entry until 23:59 and the next day from 00:00.
- Update your business profile on map and review sites at the same time as your website, so every listing shows the same hours.
- Holiday hours need their own entries with validFrom and validThrough dates. Add them for the holiday period, then remove them afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
What is openingHoursSpecification?
It is the schema.org property that lists when a business is open. Each entry has the days of the week, an opens time and a closes time, such as Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
How are days with the same hours grouped?
Days that share both times go in one entry with a list of days. If Monday to Friday are 09:00 to 17:00 and Saturday is 10:00 to 16:00, the markup has two entries: one with five days and one with Saturday.
Where do I put the JSON-LD?
Paste the whole script tag into the HTML of the page that shows your hours. It can go in the head or the body. Many website builders have a field for custom code in the page settings.
Does this markup guarantee my hours appear in search results?
No. Structured data helps search engines understand your page, but they decide what to show. Keeping your business profile up to date matters as much as the markup.
Which time format should I use?
Use 24-hour time as HH:MM, such as 09:00 or 17:30. That is the format schema.org expects, and the tool checks each time before writing the markup.
