Enter one sale amount to compare what Stripe, Square (online and in person), PayPal, Venmo business and a processor of your choice would charge and what you keep. Add your monthly number of sales to project a month and a year of fees, or switch to reverse mode to find the price that nets you an exact amount. Every rate is an editable default taken from the vendor's standard published US pricing as of September 2026. Fees change and vary by country, account and product, so check the linked pricing page before relying on a number. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to We.Inc or anyone else.
At 2.9% plus $0.30 a $65 online order costs $2.19 in fees, an effective rate of 3.37%. At 300 orders a month that is $657 a month and $7,884 a year. The same order through PayPal goods and services at 3.49% plus $0.49 costs $2.76, or $828 a month.
In person on a card reader at 2.6% plus $0.15, the same $65 costs $1.84. Knowing which of your sales are online and which are in person lets you project fees accurately.
On a $4 coffee at 2.6% plus $0.15 the fee is $0.25, an effective rate of 6.3%. The percentage is the same as on a large sale, but the fixed fee is spread over less money. Businesses with many small sales should compare the fixed fee first.
Most flat-rate processors charge a percentage of the sale plus a fixed amount per transaction. At 2.9% plus $0.30, a $40 sale costs $1.16 plus $0.30, or $1.46. This calculator applies that formula for each processor using the rates you see in the table.
Standard published US rates as we understand them in September 2026: Stripe online cards 2.9% plus $0.30; Square online 3.3% plus $0.30 (Free plan; 2.9% plus $0.30 on paid plans) and in person 2.6% plus $0.15; PayPal goods and services 3.49% plus $0.49; Venmo business 1.9% plus $0.10. Each is editable and linked to the vendor's pricing page.
Add the fixed fee to the amount you want and divide by one minus the percentage. To net $100 at 2.9% plus $0.30 you charge $103.30. Reverse mode shows this for every processor at once.
On the default rates it depends on the sale size and whether the card is present. The table sorts nothing for you and highlights the lowest fee for the amount you entered, but fees are only part of the choice: payout speed, features and where your customers already pay matter too.
Not directly, because interchange varies by card type. Use the custom row with your average effective rate, or the percentage and fixed fee from your quote.
This calculator does not recommend or assume any processor. It compares standard public rates so you can make your own choice.
